globalX ’14: Costa Rica!

This past Sunday Kim and I got to meet all 59 people who will be heading down to Costa Rica with us this summer.

Yup, you read that right. We’re heading off to Costa Rica with 41 students from Inside Out and 8 other leaders. The students include some of the #429tribe members as well as some high school students who are small group leaders that Kim coaches in Transit, so we’re extremely excited.

Here’s a basic snippet from globalX about our trip:

This team will serve with our partner church in Costa Rica, Openhouse, and an Intersect partner, Roble Alto. The team will engage in projects such as construction, painting, renovations, and organization projects. In addition, they will spend time connecting with the kids of Roble Alto Ministries through games and art.

Unlike the past when our main responsibilities were pretty much to stay flexible, encourage each other and just do what ever is needed, we now get to co-lead together along with 6 other leaders. For logistical purposes we’ll be splitting into smaller groups of 7 or 8 during discussion times and travel, but for the most part we’ll be doing everything as a large group. We are extremely excited that we get to pour into the lives of these students together.

As always, we want to put together a support team who will be willing to pray for our team, give towards this project, or both. We also need prayer for wisdom as we teach these students the value of seeking to meet a child’s needs in another culture

As a couple, we will need to raise a total of $4,200 ($2,100 each). The money we raise will go towards airfare and materials needed during construction as well as crafts and supplies for the children.

Thank you so much in advance for your continued prayers and financial support. We love you all, and can’t wait to continue to share on our journey.

Anybody else thinking about going on a short term mission trip this summer?
