Hand Off

The end of my 3 year commitment is in May, and I am worn out.
Physically.
Emotionally.
Spiritually.
I am ready to end this.

May signifies the end to my 3 year commitment, and I am extremely, rejuvenated.
Physically.
Emotionally.
Spiritually.
I am ready to move on.

This 3 year season with Transit has been incredibly fruitful, not perfect, but pretty awesome. I’m sure I could have thumped more biblical knowledge or Christianese in these impressionable young minds, but I truly feel that’s not what God intended for me in these boys lives. I was never a good student when “talked at,” but I sure can learn quick when somebody shows me. So why should I try and empty my cup any differently? Continue Reading…

Seconds of Courage

Jack, I love him to death. He’s my son, of course I do.

I Did Learn

A few years ago, I took a class offered only to the volunteers at our church. It was a class specifically on how to read the old testament. This class had 2 required readings, and it was the first time in many years I was in a “classroom” environment.

There were a few differences from this class, than the classes of old. In high school (not so much college), I remember a few things that kept my interest and kept me from dozing off:

  1. Food
  2. A hot girl sitting next to me
  3. In class activities or other sort of engagement

There is a disease that creeps.

An affliction determined to destroy.

Look to your left, there they are. This person, of which whom you know had you made one life decision differently could have been you.

Look to your right, and there they are again. A little bit shinier, and maybe even more lustrous. You notice the outcome of this persons life is similar to the first, in that it’s not yours.

Look straight ahead and you see an old flame. A long-lost love of yours that you think you regret letting go, in the arms of another and the damned thought that courses through your mind:
