In trying to rejuvenate my writing habits, I wanted to start by sharing the story of why we moved our family 20 miles across town. First, it all starts from back in 2006, when my job moved me and the fam from Phoenix, AZ to Atlanta, GA.

I knew that we had to soon find a place to go on Sunday’s, because well that was the thing to do, and as a Pastor’s Kid I knew it would click sooner or later why we did this “ritual” on Sundays. Perhaps it would seep into the rest of the family and hey, maybe we’ll even join a “bible study” on a Wednesday night or something. Who knows.

2013-10-27 Stoney River

What an awesome family. Right? This was taken this past Sunday over at Stoney River for my 36th birthday. We are such a happy family, and wow am I blessed. A multi-race, functioning, nuclear family that is happy all the time… to which you could call BS, and I would just smile and nod. The reality is, this is truth and I believe it 100%.

Holy Week 2013

Ben —  March 27, 2013

My entire adolescent life, I had the privilege of watching my older sister pave the path for me and my relationship with my parents by making the sort of choices a stereotypical pastor’s kid would be expected to make. Nowadays she sets the example for army wives of blended families, all while making her home extremely welcoming to all who enter, never turning away even one of the bajillion kids in the neighborhood.

I am so proud to call her my sister, and also so excited to see her start this new journey of sharing her thoughts and experiences of raising a blended family, military life, and ministry on her blog.

She’s all kinds of awesome, go over and show her some love!

It is exciting to watch our staff prepare and diligently place the Stations of the Cross throughout our campus. This year, our ministry team asked if our family would participate by providing something of remembrance for the 9th station.

I really can’t believe I haven’t written about our family nights for over a year.

That’s not to say we haven’t had any, because every Friday night we still alternate who gets to plan the evening’s events, with a $10 (sometimes $20) budget. Last night was no different, and Kim got to host it.

It went something like this: Continue Reading…

No Idea Why She Does It

Ok, I have a confession. The title of this post is a blatant lie.

Let me explain:

A typical night in the Nunes household starts with dinner being served, drinks are on the already set table, and the kids are sitting down. Until one day in October of 2010, my drink (OJ, by choice) would spend about 2-5 minutes in the freezer before Kim brings it to the table. This created a thin layer of froth-frost from the pour, which made the OJ drinking experience phenomenal.

She has done it from time and time again since then, but here’s the thing.

I never asked her to do that, and I think it’s freakin’ amazing.

She knows I love it… Continue Reading…
